About Paulette

Author

A retired librarian and debut novelist, Paulette Brooks holds a bachelor’s degree in Honors English Literature from University of Waterloo (Ontario, Canada) and a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Paulette was born in Toronto and lived in Canada for the first half of her life. According to her Scottish grandfather, they had a distant family connection to the explorer David Livingstone.

She lives with her husband outside of Indianapolis where, when not writing, she loves to read, bake pies, garden, and work on jigsaw puzzles, all the while trying to keep up with the activities of her six grandchildren.

Winner of
Short Story Contest

In the summer of 2023, I entered my library’s Short Story contest with the theme of a classic tale reimagined. I conjured up a twist to the thirteenth-century legend of The Pied Piper of Hamelin and was delighted to win first place!

I was so pleased to hear from a couple of people who thought it might be the germ of an idea for my next book.

Read it and let me know what you think!
